This post is intended to help those not familiar with Marksman Hunter mechanics to get a simple overview

Spec
7/52/7 is the spec

Here's the link: http://www.wowhead.com/talent#cxbZzeVoRhzGIsxuVox00b:fi
Just cut and paste it. It leaves a few points open for you to choose something extra...
***Note: The Link has Glyphs Already in there for You***

Apsect Mastery
No good. It requires using up points in BM that wont benefit your outright damage for something like 90 extra AP. Generally considered a loss.

Focused Aim
Good if you need the hit, otherwise go for something else.

Improved Hunter's Mark
Also a good point holder to get deeper down the tree. If you really want it, go for all 3 points, but be careful... a weaker untalented Hunter's Mark will override your stronger talented one now (wtf Blizz!)

Improved Arcane Shot
Two possible comments here... (1) Only get this if you're just starting out. Eventually, you'll actually drop Aracne shot from your rotation if you go for ArPen. (2) Get this talent if you intend on going for Agil over ArPen.

Efficiency
It's a loss, since Hunter's have Viper, Marksman has other talents that will gain mana back, and raids generally provide plenty of mana regen mechanics.

Rapid Recuperation
Again, it's dependent on your situation. If you're in raids that provide lots of mana regen you probably wont need it. It's not a horrible talent, just nothing that contributes directly to your damage output.

Improved Steady Shot
You'll be relying on Steady Shot more and more as your gear gets better, so it's a good bet that this will up your damage by a respectable amount.

Glyphs
As you can see in the talent page, there are some spots for glyphs. Some possible ones are:

Glyph of Hunter's Mark
Most useful, of course, if you talented for Imp Hunter's Mark.

Glyph of Trueshot Aura
Again, most useful if you talented for it.

Glyph of Kill Shot
Not bad, but situational. Best for boss fights where that last 25% need to go fast.

Glyph of the Hawk
Not too shabby. Faster shooting.

Glyph of Chimera Shot
Not hugely important, but reliant on how much your computer lags (oddly enough). More lag, less useful.

Glyph of Aimed Shot
This is useful if you've talented your Aimed Shot to do more damage than your Chimera Shot.

Minor Glyphs
No Hunter Minor Glyphs contribute to your damage, so it's purely your choice!

Stats

Hit: you'll need 8%, or 263 hit rating [less depending on how many points in Focused Aim], (7% if you're a Draenei)

Agility: gives you all your Attack Power and Crit. super important stat

Armor Pen: this becomes important after you get about 400 total ArPen from gear and trinket procs, but less important after your total ArPenn from gear and trinket procs is above 1400. Keep in mind though, that ArPen is super awesome against highly armored boss targets, but super suckzors against low armored mobs (and heroic bosses).

Crit: very very good for Marksman, since you want the bleed from Piercing Shots, but you'll get it from Agil.

Haste: it's just meh for Hunters. You'll get your haste from the Imp Hawk talent.

Attack Power: you'll get it from Agil

Armor: wear AP mail gear, because it has intellect. You dont want to gem for Int, but the intellect from the mail gear contributes directly to your attack power (via Careful aim), so dont pick up leather items. They're not for you.

Pet

Most sites will tell you to go for a wolf for Furious Howl.

Wasps are good for their armor reduction sting.

I would honestly suggest that you yourself take a look at all the pets and what they do, then pick the one that you want most =) the website here is the best resource: http://www.wow-petopia.com/

Gems

Meta: Relentless (+21 Agil and +3% crit dmg)
Red: Delicate (+20 Agil) or Fractures (+20 ArPen) or Glinting (+10 Agil and +10 hit) if you're not hit capped
Yellow: Deadly (+10 Agil and +10 Crit), use this only in yellow spaces if the socket bonus nets more Agil or Crit or AP, otherwise just use one of the solid Red gems.
Blue: Nightmare Tear (obviously you can only get just one, so put it in a good slot!)

Priority (not a rotation)

1 ) Serpent Sting (just the once since Chimera Shot will always refresh it)
2 ) Kill Shot
3 ) Chimera Shot
4 ) Aimed Shot
5 ) Arcane Shot (if you're gear has more than 800 ArPen, drop this from your rotation)
6 ) Steady Shot
7 ) Silencing Shot (this isnt on the Global Cooldown with other shots, so you can fire it off whenever for the most part unless you need to use it to actually silence an enemies ability)

As a point of interest, Rapid Fire should really be added to the priority list and used every time it's up. Paired if possible with haste pot and heroism of course. Readiness makes opening with Rapid Fire and still having it available for Heroism 30 seconds into the fight very easy. Also, please look at the talents of the other hunters in the raid - if one of them has improved mark (Grynamer is the only one I seen with it in the ICC 25 runs) please don't screw every other hunter in the raid and overwrite their mark.

It is also worth noting that improved tracking doesn't require you track the type of mob you want to do extra damage to, despite the painfully common misconception.

Good points indeed. The only reason I didnt include stuff like Multi-shot, Volley, Kill Command, Rapid Fire, or Readiness in this post is mostly because I focused on single target shot-priority. But indeed, using these additional abilities is also quite important for maxing the dps output!

Thanks for the comments too

Kill Command should really just be macroed to everything but steady shot and most of the time you can do the same for silencing shot as we very rarely get called on to use it as a silence anymore (stupid silence immune bosses). As a further point of interest, to see what gear, talent and/or glyph really does offer the best upgrade for your setup, check out femaledwarf. Drop down lists of t9/10 quality gear in every slot, gems, pretty much everything you could ask for in a dps spreadsheet.

Again, glad to see comments on these posts. But, a word on them... these posts are intended for people who may be just starting to raid and arent tech-savvy enough at this point in making macros, or for people who dont like using macros (like me).

Also, while I personally use RAWR, and I've heard about femaledwarf, the other reason for these posts is so that people dont have to go elsewhere for their gear/talent/gems information. And, so that they can make a choice on what they wish to emphasize as opposed to simply telling them what to do.
